Students can explore the development of Brussels through the centuries. They’ll discover the most significant periods in the history of the city: its medieval origins, the two fortifications which surrounded the city, the bombardment of 1695, the urbanisation of the old villages and the enclosure of the Senne. To end the visit, the true story of the most famous resident of Brussels – the Manneken-Pis – will be revealed to them.
The museum invites you to combine this voyage into the city’s formidable past with an entertaining exploration of modern-day Brussels and its inhabitants at experience.brussels

Do you know that the statue which serves as a fountain is a copy? The original is preciously preserved in the City Museum. But why ? Our guide tells the children the incredible story of this little sculpture. He then takes the group to the GarbeRobe. Along the way, he evokes the other fountains depicting naked sculpted children. The opportunity to compare them to Manneken-Pis and understand why he has become so important. Last stop, the GardeRobe for a glimpse of the huge collection of costumes. The little statuette has more than 100 costumes! Awesome, isn’t it?
